U.S. Department of Health & Human Services Security Rule Compliance

How does this application comply with United States Department of Health and Human Services Security Rule?  
Note, some of the application compliance for security overlaps with the US HHS Privacy Rule.

  • When the application first start, the active assessment data is reset.
  • When the application is shutdown, the active assessment data is cleared.
  • Unauthenticated users are only allowed to work with the active assessment.  The active assessment can not be saved by the user within the application.  
  • User must be logged into this application to have the ability to save an active assessment.  This application uses pre-built provider components for authentication.  Users must either be registered through this application (e.g., email and password) or have an existing account (e.g., Google, Microsoft, etc.) to use authentication.
  • Saved assessments are only accessible by the original author of the assessment.  Saved assessments can not be viewed, shared, or transferred between users.
  • Saved assessments may only be altered (reviewed, updated, deleted, etc.) by the original author.
  • When the user logs out of the application, the active assessment data is cleared.

How does this application comply with United States Department of Health and Human Services Privacy Rule?  Note, some of the application compliance for privacy overlaps with the US HHS Security Rule.

  • When the application first start, the active assessment data is reset.
  • When the application is shutdown, the active assessment data is cleared.
  • Unauthenticated users are only allowed to work with the active assessment.  The active assessment is not saved internal to the application.  
  • Users may create, access, view, use, modify or delete their own, originally authored assessments from within this application.  This is no other means provided to the user outside of this application.
  • Assessments which are saved by the original authoring user are only accessible by the original author.  Saved assessments can not be viewed, used, modified, shared, or transferred between users from within this application.
  • Saved assessments may only be altered (i.e., reviewed, updated, deleted, etc.) by the original author.
  • When the user logs out of the application, the active assessment data is cleared.
  • The assessment data has been divided into two main sections, header and questions/scores.  The questions/scores section is completely devoid of patient identifier information.  The header section does have one field, Client Reference, which allows the therapist to enter some ad-hoc information that can be associated to the patient.  The field is not validated and may be any information entered by the therapist.  The only patient information required for an assessment is age (numeric, not birthdate) and gender.  All other patient information as part of the header is optional.
